Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

A high-ranking representative stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
